EWR-LAS should do well. United often charges such a premium for non-stop. Quite often connections in IAH, even LAX and SFO were way cheaper then the non-stops.

I really don't see a huge demand for this that is willing to pay a premium. I wouldn't even want to get on that plane, a leg stretch in LAX is nice on such a long flight regardless of class. Can you imagine basic economy on that flight, awful.

Looks like WOW is trying to be the first ones in, as people know these airports don't have enough O&D to support another airline now. Airfares will also be very competitive and last minute averages will go way down with WOW in the market, trashing yields. Good move on their part.

Yeah in the Summer Iceland can use every seat they can get. But in Winter when tourism to Europe is way low , they probably have plenty of lift. They are a very seasonal operation based off of leisure traffic.

It has become a massive connection operation. They need more facilities, airport hotels, waiting areas, restaurants. At peak times its ok still manageable, but bad weather or issues there is no space. WOW on a bad day and this place is a zoo.

There is nothin special about lgb that JetBlue has to stay there. There are costs in moving flights out and putting them in Burbank, but staying in lgb is getting less attractive everyday. Aeromexico has certainly served SLC before, i think it was back in the MD days they have served MEX before Delta did, and i think GDL. Delta serves GDL seasonally if im not mistaken.

I think MSP is extremely well served, the good and bad is an airline has a hub there so they are the force thats hard to compete with.

It would have far less service if it were not a hub. Maybe a few more international airlines would serve it, but less seats for sure. Its a skyteam fortress hub

No will never happen

The location makes no sense for a non-stop. I also don't think there is a market even close to large enough to want to pay the premium for a non-stop. I am not sure i would want a non-stop that is really far, certainly not in coach!

Cancelling those routes in busy summer travel time with so little notice?

Seems like they could have done sep 1 cancel and raked in some more cash while still givign short notice unless things were really bad. Looks like things are really bad.

For the record i think WOW will continue to flourish. They are going to get much larger. They have a ULCC model that works, they just need to work on some delay/scheduling flights with unrealistic turnaround time issues. WOW is not a failure in any market to the USA i am aware of, quite the opposite...

How anyone works at WOW in KEF is beyond me. It must be the worst job ever. So many missed cancellations, so many late flights, agents with absolutely no power or ability to fix travelers issues. Its like a nightmere

Non-stop i am not sure anything is left. One stops via Europe there are probably alot of options. They find markets with healthy local demand and probably have a good shot. Ie they we saw LOT go in for ORD and JFK-BUD they probably didn't want Emirates to move in, so they are rolling the dice on them.

I mean i am sure its about cost savings in labor salaries, but if you have multiple planes sitting on the ground all day everyday, it does make some sense. Hard to argue that they cant use that time as they see fit. Even just that half day of free time on larger projects over and over again turns in...
