Couldnt agree more. I flew them to MCI in winter. Airtrain to check in to security was an endless maze of up and down left and right with no signage. That was for a pilot. I couldnt imagine a newbie doing it. The biggest problem is a 1970s era, three-level headhouse that desparately needs replacing ...

It was a piece falling off an ancient CO DC 10 that caused the Concorde disaster...just a reality check for this dangerous bird.

The reality is, prior to 9/11, airlines were flying a lot of old aircraft around by today's standards. It was a different time.

Re: AA's position in NYC

They dont have to run mainline.

They have 270 slots at JFK with a B6 takeover...they have a hub. They can make the hub work how they see fit with outsourced RJs and mainline. I suspect their upstate ops would look like UA at EWR.

It is better for JFK (pax count wise) if they stay separate obviously.

AAs best bet in NYC (I hate to say it) is a purchase and merger with B6. Forget the other B6 pieces, just concentrate on planes and NYC slots. It would give AA a 270 departure hub from JFK, they would be a solid number 2 at LGA and they would have a presence in EWR and HPN. Short of that, they arent...

That is so interesting about the Sundrome. I looked at an old pic, and you are right, there were no gates between the satellites! Quick history question:

Why did National build the Sundrome at JFK?

They didnt fly to Europe and seemed to be limited to Florida.

I know a terminal at JFK was the thing to do in the 60s, but this seems a bit much for a small airline with no intl presence from the airport.

B6 doesnt fully utilize their JFK slots.

They have room for around 178 flights.

Everyday they are below that, they can add.

If you count the days they are below 178 flights, you will see they are below that number for most of the year.
