Inside chatter that says otherwise and lots of investment at the MAT for B6. They just can’t replicate that gate situation or ramp space anywhere at the new terminal. It’s important to note that the new terminal is no bigger gate wise than the old terminal At a gate constrained airport like LaGuardi...Jump to post
At JFK, They didn’t really design 380 specific gates. there are several gates that can accommodate it. Redesigns took place at T1 and T4...But they are gates that are used interchangeably with the other airplanes JFK did spend a lot of money on reinforcing the taxiway bridges. When 22R was rebuilt i...Jump to post

One of the few US airports without a hotel, the TWA Hotel opens today!
A lot of money was poured into this project.
With over 500 rooms, an infinity cool, a Connie, and lots of lounges and restaurants on site, JFK joins other world airports in a spectacular way!
I haven’t been there in so long
I’m shocked that those 1970s concourses are still in use
The last time I was there, that hotel was very dated
I also remember when they used to charge you a small fee to use the pool and tan.
It was awesome.
Do they still do that today?
The costs at YVR vs SEA should also be looked at.
SFO is not in the Pacific NW

I think part of the reason Jetblue doesn't go to Canada is that the taxes are so incredibly expensive. I remember Marty St George mentioning this in a video a while back.
Here’s some info if you feel “special” when you receive an internal email. Once it is sent out to 20,000 people, it is already public. They just make you feel like you are in on a secret. The reality is, if there ever really was a secret...you and you’re 20000 fellow employees would be the last to k...Jump to post
USA has land ATL and ORD keep building runways No need for slots LAX may one day by slot restricted. But they have good wx and a good runway layout...so at current levels it works The likey next airports to get slots in the US are EWR (reinstated; already a warning about that), SFO (bad rwy layout, ...Jump to post
DCA JFK is ending for runway construction and resumes in Nov
JFK RIC is just more slot squatting...but at least it is an interesting add
If they are looking at adding some more RJ routes...XNA MCI STL...all would be nice JFK monopoly adds
None of them
If Delta starts Gatwick service on it’s own metal...That won’t last long either
And if JetBlue starts LGW service...They will be out of there when they get Heathrow slots
The United States business traveler wants Heathrow. Spoken loud and clear several times
Just for perspective, AA never topped 120 or so flights. They were never that big. The cities listed were a hodgepodge of Eagle Saabs and a bunch of mainline flights that started and ended with varying degrees of success or failure. Things like STN and DEN came and went so quickly that they get hono...Jump to post
The point of NZ flying to NYC is… SYD/MEL/BNE/ADL/PER/CNS-AKL-NYC as well as all of New Zealand. NZ has great Australian connections at AKL where transiting is very easy. There are a lot of other places to connect to get to Australia No one wants to sit on a long flight like that to connect. This f...Jump to post
NZ wouldn't start JFK anyway, they'd go for EWR if they were to go to NYC. Why? EWR isn't an obvious place to hub to AKL. NZ could just as well take the O&D at JFK. Lufthansa, Turkish, Air China, ANA, Asiana, Austrian, Egyptair, Avianca... all operate from JFK, as do other *A carriers. Avianca,...Jump to post
What about NRT? Or are we considering that served via JL?
HKG (also served via CX)
SJU/DR flights can all be easily restarted with 73s tomorrow
Seasonal PDX has always been a glaring hole
The US economy is on fire!
For many millenials like myself, this is the first time in our career we are seeing this.
Plenty of jobs available
I hope it lasts...these things go in cycles...and we are due for a downturn.
Put the politics aside and just enjoy it!
All legacies retrenched to hubs during this time period. It goes beyond SEA NRT on one airline. Look at UA at MIA and JFK during the same period. Beyond Delta, the other two legacies never really resumed P2P (or focus city) flights like this again. Some great posts above...particularly about the 763...Jump to post

Could UA reinstate MCO for their Southeast hub? I think that when all is said and done with the new terminal at MCO, we will probably see a moderate expansion of UA at Orlando, perhaps even a focus city or miniature hub ala Delta. However, it would probably serve a different function for UA than MC...Jump to post
Orlando is central to Florida, thus the lure and romance of having a Florida “hub” has attracted several carriers in failed attempts -people dont fly between cities in Florida -people from up north usually fly direct to their Florida destination of choice Ironically, with Orlando now becoming an imm...Jump to post

SJU has been a loser for B6 beyond what it has now
It was originally set to be a major station for them...hence the terminal...but FLL took its place.
It was talked about as a major connecting point for “the Americas” for B6
Just curious Im a 15 year airline pilot What is a “steep” takeoff? We always rotate to the same angle and climb out up to acceleration altitude at more or less the same angle At acceleration altitude we either accelerate to 250 or the assigned climb speed from ATC or the SID (SID would include NA pr...Jump to post

Your chart is misleading
It starts after major cuts and it ends before this summers cuts
AA flew 120 daily flights with a boat load of A300s around the islands
We shall see what happens in November, but this summer wont help your chart
last summer was 22L and 22R This closure is more significant Anytime a cold front crosses NY, you get winds from 310. The strong winter spring and fall fronts gust to 30 or 40 knots That throws JFK into one runway That is what is happening tonight 5.5 hour delays Line for takeoff starts at T5, down ...Jump to post
there are three or four suitors for American slots at JFK 1. UA. But this is limited. Maybe 20 slots. 2. WN.
