I'm curious about the flights to LBV. They already have daily nonstop ABJ-LBV. That article is relatively old. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/5n-jid Flight radar shows the aircraft going to BOD. Is the aircraft going back to lessors? Last revenue flight appears to have taken place in December. Delta Airlines with a B777-200LR (non stop) or with a B767-300ER via Dakar, is probably the strongest option. They could use Nairobi hub (Kenya Airways) to feed the route. Currently, Delta Airlines has code share on KLM East Africa destinations, as well with Air France to Central Africa. I don't th...Jump to post
If there are increasing demand from Brazilian to travel to Southeast Asia, would LATAM/SAA/SQ/etc. start flying dorect flight between Brazil and SE Asia with a stopover at South Africa? I would not expect DL at NBO. Not only has DL Africa dreams have largely been a failure, but more importantly Kenya would be served 1-stop, all the while DL continues to reduce such 1-stop flying. DL has pulled its 1-stop India service and continues to trim the many previous Far-East 1-stop service...Jump to post
As announced on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FlyArikAir/posts/1370409479689481:0 News has been very bad for ARIK lately. A lot of Nigerian press cannot be verified, but here the truth from the mouth of the beast. A news article says that most of ARIK aircraft are on the ground http:...Jump to post
Is there still a nonstop MEX-NRT? I think that was a stretch for the 788 and i doubt nonstop PVG would be even remotely possible.Jump to post
According to Airlineroute, Rwandair is making a lot of changes to their schedule. When i look at DXB flights in April, they spend 15 hours on the ground every day. I would bet this has more to do with connecting DXB and BOM to their new network. I doubt there is enought KGL-BOM/DXB traffic to suppor...Jump to post
How are things with Aeroflot, they seem to cancel orders: 787, now A350. With the current state of the Russian economy, I can see they perform quite badly at the moment. This was why I was surprised to see SU add a 3rd daily flight to JFK. I would have thought traffic would be going down to the US.Jump to post
When i look at Amadeus, aircraft will sit on the ground for 12+ hours in BOM. Poor efficiency.Jump to post
So to get a grip on the size of the continent, using flight times might be a good way. It takes roughly 10 hours to traverse the continent from North to South, and it takes around 6 hours from East to West at the widest point. It is, in other words, huge - much, much bigger than continental USA. ht...Jump to post
I think the OP might be wondering. Why isn't there in "Air Congo" or something similar that has a good Geographical location in central Africa that would work as a mega hub with the continent and beyond. I think it is because you don't have many cities in Africa that have a strong of an O...Jump to post
People are leaving New York state like mad, and with all the problem that state and state government seems to have where is the $$$$ going to come from to do such a rebuild? [quote="piedmontf284000"][quote="Waterbomber"]EY, Intesa Sanpaolo and Unicredit have agreed to give AZ a lifeline. They should just focus on TA flights with a mix of regional routes within Italy and leave it at that. With all the low budget airlines in Europe now, there is no way...Jump to post

Does anyone have more information?
I'm never sure what to believe in the Nigerian media, but ARIK's own facebook page indicates there are disruptions. Can anyone confirm?
Terrible time of the year for this to happen with so many passengers traveling before Christmas.
I can't see this ending well! It's impossible to make long haul working without any economies of scale and without any feed. One cannot simply rely on O&D traffic unless the routes are incredibly high yielding, which DAR will certainly not provide. I can't see anyone willing to provide feed on ...Jump to post

Something I've never understood about SAA. If their planes just sit on the ground all the day in Europe, why do their flights leave around dinner time rather than late at night?
