I think it has to do with bus operations. The turns time is really tight and Thomas Cook clears at Terminal 7. So they park at remote gate then get bussed to T7. During that time there are a lot of bus ops at LAX.

That's why it was mentioned in another post that DL is closing its SEL regional f/a based as there are no intra Asian cities out of SEL these crew can fly. Wonder if they're given opportunities to transfer to other Asian ports.

Totally agree with Bicoastal and Hiflyer. Even for revenue psgr, we sometime cannot reopen the pit and retrieve the psgr's gate checked bags.
