You can kill two birds with one stone and offer SYD-LAX-LHR-SIN-SYD with evening departure of SYD and SYD-SIN-LHR-LAX-SYD with a bit of ground time at LHR. So I take it planes fix them selves up?!? Sufficient ground time means maintenance which equates to minimising the probility of an aircraft goi...Jump to post
QF has a substantial maintenance operation at LAX - https://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/media-releases/qantas-unveils-new-aircraft-maintenance-facility-at-lax/ Just because aircraft are sitting out in the open doesn't mean that they aren't undergoing work. of course, but is approx 15 hours of mainten...Jump to post
My bets are: They formally announce SYD-DFW going to 2x daily on 789s Or They formally announce BNE-DFW 1x daily on 789s Or They announce the dates for BNE-LAX-JFK on 789s And finally, this is a interesting one A temporary SYD-BNE-ORD 789 flight (until they can do SYD-ORD on a 77X). Just to clear the air the delivery via HNL is for a number of reasons, PR, crew rest and a buffer should there be any delays.
Im assuming by this that there isn't yet an official ETA into Sydney? Am I right in thinking the date of arrival is still the 20th though? Im planning to go out and see it given I'm free that day! Etihad flight EY450 from Abu Dhabi to Sydney, a B77W, diverted early this morning to Adelaide, apparently due to a smoke alarm. Passengers left the aircraft and it is still there. JQ could do the flights direct with 788s but for the route to be attractive to business travellers, I think a full-service offering is required in both J & Y. I agree. JQ would have a tough time competing for passengers who will quite happily fly D7/TZ or on deeply discounted MH, SQ, TG etc far...Jump to post

BNE & SYD are daily from AC, when MEL starts it will only be 3 weekly. QF does not have the frames to start routes to Canada and if they did you would see SYD-YVR operate on a more frequent basis. A tag IMO to YYZ wouldn't not work, I don't think the demand would be there Word floating around t...Jump to post
Given that Air Canada is successful enough to operate daily Vancouver flights to three different airports, would it be worthwhile for Qantas to attempt some flights, apart from the seasonal Sydney flight? I am surprised that QF hasn't put on more flights e.g. AKL-PER year round, or AKL-ADL (or maybe AKL-HBA even) as part of the approval process with the ACCC. These changes create a 3.7% volume decrease. The original approval required QF and EK to maintain pre competition capacity on TT - which at th...Jump to post

I can't understand why they diverted to such a remote airport? It's a 4-engined aircraft. It still had 3 good engines. An A380 with 3 engines running isn't required to land at the nearest suitable airport. It would have been easier to get accommodations and flights to their final destinations for t...Jump to post
Don't think so. There currently are AF A380's in flight. Which really concerns me & convinces me to steer clear of AF when travelling.
