Re: United 2Q17 $818M Net Profit

Nice profit, but I doubt Wall Street will be happy. No Wall Street is not happy (UAs stock is down after hours) but it has nothing to do with today's results which beat expectations quite handily. Wall Street is annoyed as UA is projecting PRASM to be -1 to +1 (ie flat) during Q3...wall street was ...

I am more than happy to buy that argument.... you just have to tell me where AA lost MORE money in order to make more money on the Pacific - or whatever airline/region we are talking about. With all due respect, AA lost $200 million flying to Asia over just the past 3 quarters. UA over the past 3 quarters is barely profitable over the Pacific which is not a terribly great place to be as the world's largest transpacific airline. Afaik, the 19 UA 77As will be replaced by 38 739s. It's the sad truth. There are no plans on retiring the 772s anytime soon....they will probably fly for another 10 years or so before getting a well earned rest. most of maintenance knows we'll either be getting the A350 or a bunch of A321's. As the B747's and B757's wind down it will take 1 controller per shift to cover them but we're adding 1 controller per shift to the Airbus desk which indicates to me that we might be in line to transition to the A321 t...

So does this mean the 319s and 320s are buh-bye? Or will this replace the early build CO 73Gs and 738s? Replacing domestic 757s is probably a bigger priority. However the early build A320s at United are around 25 years old. Many A320s older than that have been parked and retired so it wouldn't surp...
