Refunds after finding a cheaper fare?

Indeed it's very frustrating, but unless they have something like a "lowest fare guaranteed" policy, they are not supposed to do anything. My best advice in this case (and for other kind of purchases, btw) is once you've paid, NEVER look at the price again.
