I wonder why they don’t fly yachts out of Quonset, with the pier right by the runway? I’m no expert but seems like it would be easier than shipping the boat to the airport by road ? I was just looking at the departed flights site and noticed there used to be thirteen ( only 15 minute ) flights a day between Burlington and Plattsburgh. Those were the days :-)

Not a separate airport, but there’s what looks to be an old runway a mile or two south of the Boise Airport runways, connected by roads and/or taxiways. Does anyone know what that was for ?

Looks like they really cut back on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I checked next week and it looks like they’re down to two flights, one to PHX and one to SFO. There are more flights other days.

I’ve noticed that there have been hardly any (less than 5 a day ?) Alaska/horizon flights from PAE the last few days. Is that the full schedule or are there a bunch of cancelled flights ?

Maybe it’s my imagination, but I think I remember a Buffalo Airways (or Airlines ? ) flying charters in the 1980’s from Providence to the Azores, with 707’s or something similar. Does anyone else remember this ?

Sorry, Sidney BC not Sydney Australia. (that would be a long ferry ride ! )

Looks like there are nonstop flights from Victoria to Toronto and from there you can go to a lot of places in the eastern US.

Flyinggoat - in normal times, would you consider taking the ferry to Sydney and flying out of Victoria ? The airport is pretty close to the ferry there. I always thought that would be a quick way for San Juan Islands people to get out of town, depending on where they’re going. Not sure how practical...

Don’t forget the PVD-BDL Allegheny flights in the 70’s. It’s 84 miles in a straight line but the flight from MHT-PVD went almost twice that - 159 miles, according to FlightAware. I guess avoiding traffic into Boston forces these flights to take roundabout routes ?

I'm surprised the only connections they're showing through Denver are to SLC, PDX, and LAS. Are there really that many people going to those cities every day to fill a plane ? Maybe they'll add some other connection possibilities later ? Frontier as of late has been limiting connecting flights out ...

One thing to note about the noise - the new Boeing widebodies that routinely fly out of Paine are very quiet - especially with their light loads. It's a long time ago (1970's), but Piedmont used to fly to both Smith- Reynolds airport in Winston Salem and Greensboro airport. They're only about 20 miles away from each other. I think one reason for having more than one runway (apart from having lots of traffic) is so the airport can stay open while doing maintenance on one of the runways.
