Just started a new job two weeks ago and already am on my first business trip. I was excited to know that I would finally get to fly Jet Blue! So here we go:
Sunday, October 5
Jet Blue #206 SJC - LGB
Sked Dept 8:55 AM / Actual Dept 9:30
Gate: C4
Time Enroute: 55 mins
Seat: 2F
A/C "thats what I like about blue" A320
Departure Rwy 30R
Arrival Rwy 30
Arrived at the Airport at 7:00AM, checked in my bag and I was the only person at the security desk, so I breezed on through. Grabbed a quick bite to eat and went to the obs deck and watch UA Mx work on what appeared to be the flaps on a 735. After a while, I went in and waited at the gate while the rest of my coworkers showed up. They announced there would be a delay. The a/c arrived and we quickly got on and taxied out. The captian was very informative and apologized for the delay, saying there was a security issue at LGB in the morning that caused delays.
We took off, following a WN 737 going who knows were, we climbed up to 32,000. DirecTV was not working on this leg. I had a coffee and lime cookies. We started our decent, turned over catalina island and made a smooth landing..but appears he landed long and really slammed on the breaks.
The Long Beach Airport - very interesting...the terminal its self is comprised of several modular buildings and was quite crowded on the inside. What really made it feel "California" was the outdoor baggage claim.
Jet Blue gets a 95% on this flight since the DirectTV was not working - not that I needed for such a long flight, but thought it would have been cool.
Stay tuned for next week...the return trip on the E190.
