Emirates' first Airbus A380 breaks cover in Hamburg

Airbus has released pictures of the first Airbus A380 destined for Emirates being rolled out of the paint shop at the airframer's plant in Hamburg.
The aircraft, which was ferried from Toulouse to Hamburg for customisation last September, has undergone cabin interior installation and painting at the German factory. It is equipped with Emirates' three-class, 489-seat layout (14 first class, 76 business and 399 economy class).
This aircraft - which Airbus says was rolled out of the paint shop on 14th March - will now undergo modifications that have resulted from the flight-test programme to bring it up to production specification, as well as finalisation of cabin furnishings requested by the customer.

Delivery of the first of Emirates' 58 Engine Alliance GP7200-powered giants is expected in July, with the type due to enter service on the airline's Dubai-New York service on 1 October.
Later deliveries will be equipped with a medium-range three-class 517-seat configuration or a medium-range two-class configuration with 604 seats.

Digging around the internet It looks like LHR will be the first airport to be served by two airlines with A380s, Singapore and Emirates once Emirates starts serving LHR from 1 Dec. Then Sydney will be the second served by two airlines, Singapore and Qantas when Qantas starts Sydney to LA. It would appear that Sydney will be the first airport to see the first three airlines when Emirates starts its service to Sydney/Auckland in Feb 08.
Am I right in these conclusions, it would be nice to see a list of planned services at the end of this year, has anyone got this information? And a map of the world showing these routes would be even better.

If EK starts serving LHR on 1 Dec,it will be a race between SYD & LHR to see who gets two A380 operators first. On current plans QF starts MEL-LAX service no later than 1 Oct, the flight MAY originate in SYD, but even if it does not QF will have at least 3 A380s by 1 Dec and 4 by end 2008, so regular services from SYD are likely to start before 1 Dec, with the 3rd airframe, even if domestic only, eg SYD-PER.
That's assuming the launch of V-Australia on SYD-LAX does not change QFs plans. It has been rumoured that QF may launch SYD-LAX first in response to the VA launch. My guess is that QF will launch MEL-LAX as planned and is pushing Airbus like crazy to have the forth A380 delivered before 1 Dec so QF can start A380 service SYD-LAX before the mid Dec launch of VA service.
Without being an insider, I believe he is referring to the EK and even more to the QF airframes:

MSN 014 made its first flight in January 2008 and is scheduled to be delivered in August 2008. If you consider these 5 months as a constant (which is most probably not correct but anyway) than MSN 015, 022 and 026 would have to make their first flights until May 2008. This is of course only a rough estimation but it fits at least to the comment made by Mr. Schoepf.

I also recall one poster who is on the programme saying that internally, Airbus are targetting 14.6 deliveries this year (there was some amusement regarding 0.6 of a delivery.......)

True, but Geoff Dixon, QF CEO, said at the half yearly profit release a few weeks ago that QF WOULD recive four A380s in 2008. Of course he could be wrong, we will just have to wait and see.

They should get at least three:
VH-OQD in August
VH-OQA in August or October
VH-OQB in October
No doubt. That's how I was able to track them down in Terminal 3 at SIN... You can see all the tails through the terminal glass, I just followed the biggest ones to find the gates with A380's

Because if delivery for MSN011 is scheduled to take place mid-July, then I assume they have to utilize the aircraft; either for Olympics or JFK...
