Baggage restrictions apply at all UK airports.

At present there are to be no diversions, LHR is closed to all flights that have not yet departed, anything in the air will be allowed to continue. Any other flights will probably be cancelled.

A friend has sent me some photos from Edinburgh, and the airport is absolutely mobbed!! I would imagine all other UK airports are the same.

It's also affecting Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales...not just England.

Apparently GLA is not letting anyone into it's terminals unless they have travel documents. Wonder what'll happen to those travelling on e-tickets?  Confused  Confused

Wouldn't like to be an airline employee or travel agent today...

I'm watching sky news now, they are showing a view of STN and only five flights have left the airport in the last 30 minutes. No flights have landed.
Ryanair are everywhere at STN most of them just sitting in odd areas around the buildings, one FR 737 just took off but there are not many movements.

OK I gather LHR still closed for inbound flights until 2pm when a
review will take place
LGW/STN/LTN/LCY All still operating as normal with just heavy delays

And various airlines are cancelling..

any news if SK or BD are cancelling flights to/from LHR ?

British Airways have canceld all domestic and European flights according to Sky News. This will effect most of the UK airports and if you put sky news on now, they have live pictures from MAN, LHR, BRS and a few more.

About time. For etickets, the problem is solved by having staff at the entrances with access to booking systems (or even printed lists).

Hi Joe, long time no speak  Smile

Any idea on where some of the diversions are to, the news stations just say "aircraft are being diverted to other airports in Europe". Which airports?

As I've never experianced something as big as this before; what happends to all of the passengers of the cancelled flights, will airlines put up extra flights on another day, or simply either refund them or book them on say tomorrows flights (if flights reuturn to normal tomorrow)?

SAS is offering free rebooking. I imagine other airlines will do the same (FR is always a wildcard of course). Tomorrow will not be normal even if the restrictions are lifted. Hundreds of aircraft will need to be repositioned.
