Definetly going to see JetBlue in Montreal , within the next two years. Earlier if they are not waiting for the ERJ-190s, they could start with two A320 flights.

This is good news. Hopefully now JFK can compete more effectively with LGA, and EWR for the short haul traffic.

Types flown: 727, L1011, MD80, A300, 777, 737-300, 737-800, A320. E190, E135

Do you all think that at some point JetBlue has to open a more centrally located hub? Having hubs on the East Coast (JFK) and one on the left coast (Long Beach) kinda limits one. I understand the logic in building-up JFK, but does that limit the growth in mostly the east/west direction when all flights head to JFK (except flights tor Long Beach)? For example, is a person in North Carolina going to fly to JFK to go to Cancun or to Denver?

Maybe I am thinking of JetBlue as one day being a hub type airline. To me, the latest order of 100 seaters confirms this trend. It seams to me hard to build a true network with hubs just on the coasts.

Thoughts anyone?

There was also an article today in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review regarding JetBlue's intentions for their ERJ order. It is well known that US's Siegel has been doing a lot of posturing and threatening with regard to the PIT hub. JetBlue has acknowleged an interest in PIT. The article hinted that Siegel is now expressing concern that PA government officials may be working behind the scenes to offer JetBlue the same incentives at PIT that they have offered to US. If true it would offer JetBlue an opportunity to drive an enormous wedge between US's PHL and CLT hubs.
Rumors and stories in and of themselves generally make for nothing but interesting speculation. I raised this same idea in another thread before the article came out. While nothing may come of it, it would be a very interesting and possibly devastating development for US. Note to Siegel, its never a good idea to sh*t where you eat.

As a business traveller who started flying when skies were awash with DC-10s, L-1011s, A300s, 767s, and 747s, I have to chuckle when I see the A320 (which is really nothing more than a 737 on steroids) refered to as a 'large' plane. Oh, to have back the 'old days.'

Yeah, that's great...my AA ad was advertising "JFK to LGB, $299 or less"...EXACTLY the fare that JetBlue offers. Does American even offer direct service to LGB from JFK? Who would fly AA with a stopover, old planes, and no PTVs?

They quite possibly will be flying to Chicago, flights to Chicago from JFK are severely lacking.

I know what you mean.

Can you imagine a little kid going to the airport to watch planes, ooooooing at a 757 (departing for LAX of course) and thinking, man that is so big, because all he sees most of the time is RJs and 737s.

I would love to see B6 come to HOU with n/s to major north eastern business centers.

Does anyone else see another focus operation for B6 coming with all these a/c. Time sure are exciting. The majors are hurting and the little guy is winning and with airlines like AirTran and B6 going on a buying spree there are going to be just that many more planes to watch Smile

They shut it off on the JFK-San Juan flight because they are not getting good enough reception over the Ocean, or something like that.

Or perhaps it interferes with navigational aides needed for long over water flying.
