Yes, it's DFW with 7... and all can be operated simultaneously. When the wind is blowing from the south, from Highway 114 you can actually see 4 aircraft on direct approaches -- one to 13R and three parallel landings on 18R, 17C and 17L. If you can see far enough, over to 13L you may be able to see one on a tight turn coming in (so as not to cross paths with the three big runways' inbound traffic). I have come into 13L in a 767-300 many times from ATL and you make a soaring tight, low base turn over Las Colinas. Great views. 18L and 17R are used for departures.
Of course, when the wind in northerly, the reciprocal headings are used. The inside runways are always, with few exceptions, for departures and the outside runways are for arrivals (diagonals are mixed use). An aircraft who calls a requirement for 17R/35L to land can get it... but they'll be waiting a long time unless it is an emergency or planned well in advance. A pilot came on the PA one time, giving the passengers info on DFW, one time and said the planes are sequenced and handled in from 100 miles out (not sure if that is standard, but it sounds like a long way out to be sequencing).
It is neat to see the lights lined up for miles in the sky at night. On a clear evening, from Keller or Southlake Texas, it looks a multi-lane highway extending out into space. I would love a night photo of that!
The diagonals (13s) are mixed dep/arr. I have used 31L on a BA 777ER (maiden 777 flight from DFW years ago) and we used 31L... this "short" runway at DFW is 9,300 ft.
17R/35L is the long runway, which the Concorde used with Braniff and then BA.

Denver will have 12 runways when the actual blueprint materializes. I'm not sure if they will pursue the expansion as international flights just come in trickles.

There ARE early plans to put in another 06-24, but if that happens the 09-27, 04-22 and 01R-36L will almost certainly be closed to make room for a 2nd terminal.

And well about the plan of a new runway you could make it without problems just it would not be so closer to the terminal and you could connect Runway 01R with the beginning of runway 24X.
I do not see so many problem there, but I certainly do not know AMS, and also the government have to search for any inconvenience and also with the people that lives nearly that zone.

I do not think Denver needs all that runways, Denver is not as concurrent as some other airports like LAX that has 4 runways or AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA that has 3 and you can not make simultaneous operations, and if they do so, they would have to construct also new terminals, and also a internal Metro like ORD's.
But anyway, if MEX can subside with 2 runways anything else is possible

Speaking of DFW and it's 7 runways. I remember reading that the DFW Airport Board was in negotiations/talks with the neighboring city of Grapevine for permission to build another, 8th runway. Does anyone here know of the outcome of it all, or is it still going on?

Can I laugh any louder!!! Hello, let's wake up and see reality!!!! What blueprints say mean nothing about what's going to happen anytime. DFWs "blueprint" was to have 13 terminals - do you think that will happen?? Esp. given that the airport has been around for 30 years, still continues to grow, and has the most runways of any airport.
It's so ironic now to be in DEN and see the signs that say "Gates 1 - 49" and "Gates 50 - 99" in the Concourses when there aren't even close to that many gates there. Wishful thinking....

TexAssie- I grew up in Keller, all the nights i spent out there camping or doing whatever me and my buddys would always look up into the sky and admire the HW in the sky around DFW. Most of my friends are now either in pilot training or getting there A & P. Most of our parents are employed with the airlines at DFW/AFW.
BTW: I was there to see the first BA 777 come into DFW. Where you on that flight? Since you seem to know your stuff about this area i have a weird question. About 10 years ago did you know anything about BA sending a TU-154 to DFW. When i was going 1709 one day as a kid i could have swore i saw one taking off to the north.
