One day out of curiosity I filled up EZY cabin crew application. I was invited to the assessment day and got through. I should start with my training within few weeks...
Being FA has always been a dream of mine and finally I can do it... But (there always has to be some but)... at the same time I have been offered a job in big multinational company as SAP expert which:
1. has MUCH better prospect for future
2. MUCH better salary
but:
1. is less interesting

What would you do if you were in my situation.

I'd go for the better paid job with a better future (SAP expert). The money you earn there can pay for the interesting lifestyle you are desiring.

Maybe work for this airline just for a while so you can get our hours/experience up.. than after a while transfer to mainline.  Smile That's what I would do.

Hey , fellow Slovenian air travel enthusiast. I don't wanna destroy your dreams. Being a FA is great (I worked with Adria as a student last year and got through this year, too). Can be tough as they call at the most impossible times of the day. For example you're "on duty" one night and have to jump in if there is a lack of personnel. If it's the first morning flight to BRU you - believe me - have to get up pretty early.
But it is interesting. Be prepared to begin as the lowest ranked FA in the cabin (serve tea, do the safety demonstration).
However, if the job is really prosperous, you should take it. Working as a FA is only good as an intermediate job. You know, to gain some experience, maybe even save some money (even though the salaries are not sky high). But the job doesn't really work for that long. If you have a chance to settle down, I advise you to do it.  old

My girlfriend is F/A and she absolutely loves here job despite it has some disadvantages.

- As Salso already mentioned in the reply above, you have irregular working times, sometimes at night, sometimes early in the morning, sometimes late in the evening. Sometimes you return late in the night but your next duty already begins early in the morning.

- The payment is not the best (like in every airline job).

- You have to deal with unfriendly and unhappy customers but you have to stay friendly and helpful.

- Your duty begins not 10 minutes before take-off time, you have a briefing before and you have to check the cabin before, also: you have to get to the airport. So a 6am take-off can mean that you have to get up at 3am.

If you don't mind such things you should go for it. As I mentioned above, my girlfriend would not change her job for everything in the world.

My girlfriend too, check my profile for more info.
I wanted to become a F/A too in the past, was a dream for many years. But after failing at various assessments at german airlines I had given up this dream. The best might be a good airline like LH, but no charter or smaller airline like AB, ST, DE or Low Cost like FR, EZY (U2).
Lehovec, in your case I would start with the higher paid job. Or if you have the chance to get this job in a half year later again, try flying.
Do what you want but think about:

I could'nt disagree with you more. I got hired as a F/A 18 yrs ago and I still love my job. I didnt think that I would be doing this for the rest of my life but I cant imagine doing anything else. I love the flexible schedule and all the time off that I get. I am also making a decent wage. The times are rough when you first start flying(wages, hours, schedule)but eventually it does get better. I would love to be in your position and age and do this all over again.

Good luck in what ever you decide !!!

Just think of all the exotic places that EZY will take you, those days in far off places, that you get to spend rest days on tropical beaches, sorry it is Easy Jet, maybe not the exotic places, but, it is experience to get a job with an airline that can offer the travel the rest of us can only dream about, and you get paid for it.

From the EZY flights I have been on, I have seen it is not an easy life for F/A's, short flights, extremely short turnarounds, something I wouldn't want.

If working for an airline is your dream, then go for it, if not, do the sensible thing, GO FOR THE MONEY!!.

Unless you are single don't become a FA I would go for that other job. You will have a low pay and terrible work hours initialy and the only benefit you will have is free travel which may not mean anything if your salary is low and you have family. I don't know how old you are but at you age group I think you may be a little on the old side for a FA job. Don't go after the money go after what you enjoy.

So, first of all let me thank you all for your help... It has been very helpful. I already decided what to do.

Quoting Sabena332 (Reply 4):

This is great. Now I work in company where I have 9/5 routine and I hate it.

Quoting Sabena332 (Reply 4):

During my studies I was working at McDonald's and this part (dealing unfriendly and unhappy customers and staying friendly) was the best part of the job. I am weird, right?  Smile

From the EZY flights I have been on, I have seen it is not an easy life for F/A's, short flights, extremely short turnarounds, something I wouldn't want.

But this is good. It's extremely dynamic and it's better then sitting in the office all day staring at the screen.

So my decision is (and as it looks like it will work) to go flying for some time and then to take the SAP expert job. I think this is the best possible way as I will have the best from the both worlds.
Also, I always wanted to live in the UK.  Wink
