am planning a trip to the US in sept and am looking to make it a bit special by flying business.
The obvious direct route is with Delta but is their business class worth the extra. I dont mind a stop so what wouls anyone recommend both for comfort and value for money?

I already liked the "old" B/E-product of DL.
And going nonstop is a big advantage, as it relieves you from having to clear immigration in the U.S. enroute.
However, keep in mind that you will have to clear security again after immigration, baggage reclaim (#1) and customs clearance in order to take the train from International Arrivals at ATL-E to the terminal where you will have to reclaim your bags for a second time ...
However, I have not checked fares ...

Go with BA. Their business class beats Delta hands-down. Especially as DL uses the 763 on this route and it won't have new business class for quite some time. Only thing about BA is they fly from LGW so not sure if you can connect there.

On a recent trip I found the current DL Business Elite seats to be just fine for sleeping, albeit a little on the narrow side. At least on the planes I was on, the seats were electronically controlled and reclined significantly. You get a huge pillow, quilt, amenity kit, and very good noise-cancelling headphones, and the AVOD is excellent (though the food, apart from the delicious ice cream sundae, could use some work). I can't comment on BA's service, but I have no complaints whatsoever about DL BizElite apart from the 763 having narrow seats.
