I know that most european flights to LAD are restricted to once per week, but what are the general passenger loads on those flights? In particular I want to know AF, BA, LH, SU, DT and TP.

Thanks in advance!

From a South African perspective it is always interesting to watch the DT pax checking in at JNB. The quantity of pieces and type of items being checked are amazing... The Angolans shop seriously in South Africa.  Big grin

Just guessing, but i would say 80-100% full all the time, year round. lots of extra baggage, overweight baggage, odd shaped baggage. 0% discounted seats.

Why are the flights from europe restricted to once per week? I'm not familiar with the regulations RE: LAD

It is always full. The 743 and and A346 is always pack to the max from JNB. And if you don't go to the airport early.,the chances of you getting bumped is very real. And if you do not have you yellow fever shot you will have your passport confiscated in Luanda until you pay to get inoculated at the airport.
A lot of Brrazilian travel on this route to make money from the new wild west where oil is helping the economy to almost explode.!

LIS-LAD in fact is Daily with A343

Not only flights to Europe are full. Nowadays TAAG flies to GIG 5x weekly with B743 with very high loads

LAD is a money maker

If I am not wrong, think that one of TAPs best routes is LAD. And isnt TP the carrier in Europe to have most flights to LAD??

Next flights: 2nd January BA771 ARN-LHR and BA279 LHR-LAX

The fares to LAD are really high. For example a flight to LAD in the middle of July with BA in lowest Y fare come on £1425

Yes your right. Most other European carriers are restricted to 1x weekly flights. I believe the reason the Angola government does this is to protect the interest of TAAG, the national carrier.

The reason TAP gets to fly daily is surely due to the old colonial ties between Angola and Portugal.

Cheers,
Imad
